## Description

ANWB Medical Air Assistance (MAA) is a Dutch operator of helicopters for medical purposes, providing emergency air support across the Netherlands. With more than 12,300 HEMS call-outs each year, the organisation flies seven days a week, 24 hours a day, for four trauma centres and the Regional Ambulance Service Fryslân. Its work is carried out by trained, committed staff and supports the rapid delivery of medical assistance when time is critical.

MAA operates two types of Airbus helicopters. The EC135, also known as the H135, is used as a trauma helicopter, while the H145 serves as an ambulance helicopter. The organisation manages the flight operations for these services and shares information about helicopter deployment, crew composition, operating locations and safety around aircraft.

Founded in 1995 as a pilot project by ANWB and VU medical centre in Amsterdam, MAA has developed over three decades. It also provides public information, including a close-up 360-degree helicopter video and resources for school presentations and projects about trauma and ambulance helicopters.
