## Description

Australian and New Zealand Third Sector Research (ANZTSR) is a network of researchers and practitioners working to strengthen knowledge of the not-for-profit sector across Australia and New Zealand. Established in 1992, the organisation brings together people who might otherwise work in isolation, encouraging collaboration and sharing evidence about the sector’s contribution to society.

ANZTSR supports its community through events and forums that promote learning and the exchange of ideas, and by publishing research. Its flagship publication, Third Sector Review, is a refereed, cross-disciplinary academic journal focused on not-for-profit research. The journal covers topics including governance, workforce and financial management, strategy, community development, fundraising, relations with government, legal issues and the sector’s history. It is recognised for Australian Excellence in Research Australia purposes and for New Zealand PBRF Evidence Portfolios.

ANZTSR also hosts biennial conferences. Its 17th conference, themed “Caring for our world: What’s the role of the Third Sector?”, is scheduled for 30 June to 2 July 2027 at the University of Canberra.
