Originally established in 2003 as Advanced Insurance Coverages, Aon Edge initially focused on offering excess flood insurance to agents involved with the National Flood Insurance Program. Following significant reforms in 2012 and 2013, Aon acquired National Flood Services in 2014, launching their flagship private flood insurance solution, EZ Flood. 

In 2018, Aon decided to sell National Flood Services but retained the Edge business, which prompted a name change to Aon Edge. The new name is derived from the first two letters of the founder's twin sons' names.
