## Description

Aotearoa BiodiverCITY is a research-led resource focused on strengthening biodiversity in the built environment across Aotearoa New Zealand. It brings cultural and ecological knowledge together with practical design strategies to support biodiversity and ecological wellbeing in urban places. The website offers a Design Guide presenting principles and approaches for incorporating nature into development, alongside assessment tools that help users recognise biodiversity in urban projects and support design and implementation. Its case studies illustrate real-world challenges and responses, including stream restoration in Christchurch, kākā nest boxes in Wellington, and the community-centred Twin Streams programme in Auckland. These examples address issues such as habitat loss, water quality, and ecological connectivity. Publications and information about the project team provide further resources for users. Aotearoa BiodiverCITY is part of the People, Cities, and Nature research programme, funded by the New Zealand Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment Endeavour Fund. The resource acknowledges mana whenua and the importance of Indigenous knowledge, practices, and kaitiakitanga in caring for biodiversity.
