## Description

The Human Animal Interaction (HAI) section of the American Psychological Association focuses on fostering an understanding of the bonds between humans and animals through a psychological lens. Operating under Division 17, this division provides a platform for scholarly activities that explore the significance of these interactions across various contexts, including empathy development, grief, and health promotion.

HAI offers a range of resources and services, including Animal Assisted Interventions (AAI) and training programs aimed at mentoring professionals involved in counseling and animal care. Their educational initiatives encompass topics such as pet grief counseling, the assessment and treatment of animal abuse, and support for veterinary students and shelter volunteers. Furthermore, HAI is committed to inclusivity and social justice, actively working to challenge anti-Black racism and foster diverse voices within the field. Through various events, webinars, and informative bulletins, HAI engages its membership in advancing compassionate practices and enhances the understanding of the human-animal bond.
