## Description

The Portuguese Association of Anthropology (Associação Portuguesa de Antropologia, APA) is a professional and academic association that brings together practitioners and students from across the diverse fields of anthropology. Its mission is to promote the recognition and autonomy of anthropological knowledge and practice in public life, education, and research. The association advocates solidarity, justice, and the well-being of human societies and the planet, while pursuing a pluralistic and inclusive vision of the discipline.

APA supports its community through membership, awards, scholarships, forums, and opportunities related to employment, courses, and training. It organizes conferences, meetings, public events, and activities such as anthropology and cinema showcases, and shares scientific writing, projects, news, and educational resources. Its work also includes public consultation, professional recognition, student integration, and the teaching of anthropology. APA connects members with departments, research units, institutions, and international associations, and participates in the World Council of Anthropological Associations. Based in Lisbon, it provides information and resources for people interested in anthropology in Portugal and internationally.
