## Description

The Associação Portuguesa de Economia Agrária (APDEA) is a Portugal-based association founded in 1987. It brings together academics, specialists, professionals and others interested in the economic, social, environmental and development issues connected with agriculture, the agri-food sector and rural areas. Its central purpose is to advance and share knowledge in agrarian economics and related fields. APDEA organizes a congress every three years, addressing agrarian economics and interconnected topics such as rural development, environmental and natural-resource economics, food economics and food security. It also disseminates knowledge and information through short courses, workshops, seminars and conferences. The association supports scholarly exchange through publications, including articles, e-books and congress proceedings, alongside multimedia resources and useful links. Its website shares news about events and initiatives, including irrigation and drainage, doctoral workshops and rural dynamics. APDEA offers membership options for effective, student and correspondent members, with an online area for associates. Based in Tapada da Ajuda, Lisbon, it serves a community engaged with the development of agriculture and rural areas.
