## Description

The Portuguese Association for Regional Development (APDR) is a professional and academic association that has supported regional science since 1984. It promotes research, discussion and knowledge sharing on regional development and related social, economic and territorial issues. APDR connects its members through congresses, workshops, seminars and other events, including its annual APDR Congress and activities focused on sustainable regional development. The association also supports scholarly communication through the Revista Portuguesa de Estudos Regionais and other publications, and highlights research through awards such as the Vicente Risco Social Sciences Prize. Its news and announcements cover conferences, calls for papers, publications, elections and topics including territorial inequalities, rural resilience, demographics and regional governance. APDR provides information about membership, its governing bodies and statutes, and invites visitors to subscribe to its newsletter and follow its social media channels. Through these activities and resources, the association fosters the study and exchange of ideas that inform regional science and development in Portugal and beyond.
