## Description

The Portuguese Association for Music Education (APEM) is a nonprofit cultural and professional association with public utility status, dedicated to promoting music education in Portugal. It supports music teachers and the wider education community through professional development, educational resources, publications, and opportunities to exchange ideas. Its training centre offers courses and workshops, while national meetings and conferences bring together people involved in music education. APEM also provides practical support for teachers, including information on curricula, legislation, recommendations, and online resources.

The association publishes the Portuguese Journal of Music Education, founded in 1972, alongside newsletters, podcasts, and other materials. Through Cantar Mais, a project offering a diverse repertoire of songs and educational resources, APEM encourages learning through singing. Its wider project work includes national and international initiatives focused on music education. APEM also maintains a library catalogue, shares sheet music, and provides a member area with relevant resources and services. Through these activities, the association works to strengthen music teaching and promote access to music education across Portugal.
