## Description

The Australian Powerchair Football Association (APFA) serves as the premier governing body for powerchair football in Australia, promoting access to this dynamic and inclusive sport for athletes using powerchairs. Established in 2010 with aspirations of competing in the FIPFA Powerchair Football World Cup, the organization has significantly enhanced the visibility and popularity of powerchair football across various Australian states, including New South Wales, Queensland, and Victoria.

Powerchair football is a modified version of soccer tailored specifically for individuals in powerchairs, characterized by its fast-paced action and emphasis on skill, strategy, and teamwork. The sport utilizes specialized metal footguards, allowing players to strike a larger 13-inch football. APFA organizes numerous events, including club championships and national competitions, fostering both local and international participation. The Australian national team, the Poweroos, has made notable achievements, including a commendable fourth-place finish at the 2017 World Cup. Emphasizing inclusivity, APFA encourages all athletes to strive for excellence in this captivating sport.
