## Description

IOGKF Portugal, also known as APOGK, is the Portuguese Association of Okinawa Goju-Ryu Karate Do. The organization promotes and preserves traditional Goju-Ryu karate in Portugal, guided by principles of respect, courage, daily practice, mental and physical training, and commitment to understanding the art. Its activities are led by Portugal’s Chief Instructor, Sensei Jorge Monteiro, and include training opportunities through affiliated dojos across the country.

APOGK organizes national and international seminars, regular training sessions, and other karate events. Its program covers traditional practice such as kata, bunkai, kakie, and foundational movements, alongside specialist sessions for black belts and senior students. The association also supports competition, including Irikumi Ju, a Goju-Ryu event format featured in its national calendar. Events have brought together practitioners of different ages and grades, with instruction from Portuguese and visiting international teachers. Through its events, instructors, and dojo network, IOGKF Portugal provides ways for students to learn, train, and connect with the wider Goju-Ryu community while helping sustain traditional karate in Portugal.
