## Description

Apollo Curling is a Calgary-based curling league serving primarily the 2SLGBTQI+ community and welcoming gay, lesbian, queer, and transgender curlers, as well as allies. Founded in 1991, the league brings people together through an accessible sport, with an emphasis on fun, sportsmanship, friendship, and community. Its season runs from October through April, with Saturday afternoon games at North Hill and Calgary Curling Clubs. Teams are grouped into pools by skill level and take part in round-robin play followed by playoffs.

Newcomers can learn the basics through free, two-hour learn-to-curl sessions; advance sign-up is required. Apollo also organizes social activities throughout the season, including registration and holiday parties, trivia, bingo, Name That Tune, and The Feud. These events are typically held monthly at North Hill Curling Club or offsite.

The league participates in Western Cup, Calgary’s annual Easter-weekend multi-sport competition. Its curling bonspiel hosted 56 teams in the 2024–25 season, making it the largest 2SLGBTQI+ curling bonspiel in Canada.
