## Description

Appalachian Convergence Lab (AppCoLab) is an Asheville-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit advancing research, education, and equitable access to mental health and addiction care in Appalachian communities. Grounded in the region’s experiences and healing traditions, it works to connect people with effective care across established treatments and emerging therapies. AppCoLab partners with universities, health systems, and policymakers to help close gaps between research, policy, and community needs.

Its work includes psychedelic research and policy education, with resources such as a 2025 policy report on psychedelics in Appalachian states and PRISM, an institutional strategy map for psychedelic research. The organization also hosts the Hollers & Horizons symposium and virtual town halls, produces a podcast and articles, and shares information about emerging policy, harm reduction groups, and healing and recovery. AppCoLab offers coaching and consulting, along with educational resources and opportunities for public engagement, including guidance on submitting comments to the FDA. Its aim is a future in which Appalachian communities can access a full range of care, researched and delivered by and for the region.
