## Description

The American Quarter Horse Association – NZ Inc (AQHA-NZ) is the official breed association for the Quarter Horse in New Zealand. Formed in 1970, it supports the breed and its owners through services for members, educational opportunities, competitions and incentive programmes. Its mission includes recording and preserving American Quarter Horse pedigrees, protecting the integrity of the breed and promoting the welfare and humane treatment of horses.

AQHA-NZ provides resources for owners and breeders, including studbook access, registration information for New Zealand and international horses, importing guidance, genetic testing, breeding information and a classified stallion list. Members can also find forms, schedules of fees, merchandise, results, awards and high-point information. The association offers programmes for amateur and youth riders, and organises shows and other events. Its youth initiatives include the bi-annual Quarter Horse Youth World Cup and Trans-Tasman Challenge. Additional resources cover the history of the Quarter Horse, sponsorship, fundraising and a foal gallery. Through these activities, AQHA-NZ encourages participation, learning and ownership of the breed.
