## Description

AQUA International Speedsurfing Trophy (AIST) is a GPS-based competition organized by AQUATICUS in partnership with GPS Speedsurfing, a major international platform for speedsurfers. AQUATICUS is a small company founded in 1990 and based in Horta, in Portugal’s Azores. Its activities have included watersports experiences, outdoor sports equipment rental, sports facility management and online equipment sales.

AIST aims to encourage regular windsurfing and wingsurfing in Portugal, bring practitioners together across different equipment types, and help participants improve their performance and record speeds using GPS data. Portuguese participants can compete from anywhere in the world, while riders of other nationalities can take part at Portuguese spots. The event offers individual and community challenges, a distinctive trophy and prize draws.

The site provides competition information, rules, registration guidance and instructions for uploading GPS sessions through GPS Speedsurfing. It also lists compatible GPS watches, devices and mobile apps, with purchasing links through AQUA Store. The 2026 edition will not take place; details for the 2027 competition are to be published once confirmed.
