Arby's Classic is a premier high school basketball event that has been captivating audiences since its inception in 1983. Born out of the vision of Tennessee High's coach Dale Burns and athletic director Bill Bingham, the tournament aimed to take advantage of the newly constructed Viking Hall. Since its first year, Arby's, led by President of Arbico East, Don Shawl, has been the proud sponsor of the tournament, contributing to its success year after year. The Arby's Classic owes its growth and success to the dedication and hard work of various stakeholders. The Viking Boosters Club has tirelessly volunteered their time and passion to ensure the tournament's seamless operation. The Tennessee High coaching staff, too, plays a pivotal role, sacrificing their Christmas vacations to help orchestrate this high-quality event. The tremendous support from local media, including television, newspaper, and radio coverage, has also contributed to the tournament's popularity. The Arby's Classic stands as a testament to the commitment and collaborative efforts of everyone involved, making it one of the nation's most prestigious high school hoops events.
