## Description

The Akademischer Reit-Club Hannover (ARC) is a student riding club founded in 1888. Based in Hanover, it describes itself as Germany’s only riding student association. The club is independent, non-political, non-duelling and does not wear fraternity colors; it welcomes everyone. Its community brings together students and former members through a shared interest in horses, academic life and social activities.

The ARC supports members’ studies with study groups, exchanges between older and younger students, and a club learning collection. Its student residence in Hanover offers a place to live, study and spend time together. For riders of all experience levels, the club promotes recreational and competitive riding, a tradition it says it has supported for more than 130 years. Activities also include drag hunts and social events, including an annual summer anniversary celebration.

The club’s network continues beyond university: former members reconnect in Hanover and offer experience, career perspectives and, where possible, overnight accommodation to fellow ARC members travelling.
