## Description

The Associação Regional de Canoagem dos Açores (ARCA) is the regional canoeing association for the Azores, founded on 1 June 1999. Based in Angra do Heroísmo, it supports an active community of around 200 athletes and works to develop canoeing across the islands. Its activities cover a broad range of disciplines, including slalom, sprint, marathon and sea canoeing, as well as kayaksurf, kayak polo, rafting and recreational paddling. The association also promotes introductory paddling through its “Primeiras Pagaiadas” programme and supports competitive canoeing. ARCA shares calendars of races and events, news, videos and information about the sport, helping athletes and the public follow local activities. Its projects include traditional canoes in Vila Franca do Campo and canoeing in schools. Through its discipline programmes, projects and event information, ARCA contributes to the visibility and practice of canoeing in the Azores. The association’s stated ambition is to achieve excellence in regional canoeing through work, dedication and strategic vision.
