## Description

Arcinsys is an online archival information system that helps users discover and access historical records held by archives in several German states. It supports research into archival units and collections in Bremen, Hesse, Lower Saxony and Schleswig-Holstein, as well as at many other archives in those states. Users can view available digitized materials without registering, making it possible to consult some records directly online. After a one-time registration, users can also request archival materials through Arcinsys for consultation in the relevant archive. In addition to public research tools, the system covers a range of archival work areas. Arcinsys is developed through a partnership between the Hessian State Archives, the Lower Saxony State Archives and the State Archives of Schleswig-Holstein. The State Archives of Bremen participates in cooperation with Lower Saxony, while the State Archives of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania works with Schleswig-Holstein. The service provides separate access points for Hesse, Lower Saxony and Bremen, and Schleswig-Holstein and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.
