## Description

ARIA Research develops ARIA, an audio-based augmented reality system designed to support greater agency and independence for people with vision disability. Its smartglasses use spatial computing and artificial intelligence to translate visible surroundings into a three-dimensional audio landscape, helping users perceive shapes and contours, identify and locate objects and people, and move through their environment with greater confidence. The technology can make otherwise silent features of a space perceptible through sound, while the glasses are designed to look like ordinary eyewear.

ARIA says its work is shaped in close collaboration with blind people, whose experience and feedback inform the system’s design. The organisation also shares information about its research, co-design activities, partnerships, team, careers, and news. It collaborates with Blind Citizens Australia and World Access for the Blind Australia, with support from Australian federal and New South Wales state governments.

ARIA Research Pty. Ltd. describes the glasses as intended for research and investigational purposes only. They are not available for sale and are not approved for sale in any country.
