## Description

ARIES (Anthropological Research into the Imaginaries and Exploration of Space) is a research project examining how space exploration shapes people’s ideas about life on a climate-changing planet, both on Earth and beyond. It connects outer-space exploration with social and cultural perspectives, asking how people imagine humanity’s present and future in a changing world.

The project uses ethnographic research, involving researchers in the societies they study and gathering knowledge through observation and interviews. Its approach, described as planetary ethnography, brings together perspectives from multiple locations and social groups in a single study. Researchers travel to communities and places of interest across continents and use journeys and workshops to explore how space exploration is understood in local, national, and international settings. The work highlights that space exploration affects people in unequal ways, while also revealing connections among their perspectives.

ARIES shares research updates and news through its website, alongside information about its project team and resources. The project has received funding from Poland’s National Science Centre under registration number 2020/38/E/HS3/00241.
