## Description

ARISE Empowerment Programs is a Vancouver, BC-based organization offering self-defense education designed to help people feel safer, more confident, and empowered. Founded by educator and martial artist Jess Gordon, ARISE brings together Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, mindset training, discussion, and games in a trauma-informed learning environment. Its approach treats self-defense as more than physical skills, emphasizing voice, boundaries, and awareness alongside movement.

Programs serve children, preteens, teens, and adults, with weekly women’s and teen classes and a preteen program called Be Your Own Hero. ARISE also offers community-based workshops, workplace safety training and team workshops, and programming for K–12 schools, colleges, and staff. Participants can explore an introductory online course and access a free A–Z toolkit. Communities and organizations can arrange workshops or training tailored to their settings.

Through classes and partnerships, ARISE aims to make empowerment practical, accessible, and community-centered. The organization encourages individuals, schools, and workplaces to get involved through its programs, resources, or direct contact.
