## Description

A Rising Tide Academy is an online paralegal training provider focused on helping people prepare for careers in the legal field, including individuals who may face barriers to employment. Launched in 2018 as the From Prison to Paralegal pilot program, the academy specializes in flexible, self-paced paralegal education and aims to make training accessible through free courses and financial assistance.

Its program includes 13 online courses totaling 900 clock hours, designed to meet the education-hour requirement to sit for the NALA Certified Paralegal exam. Students can complete the program in as little as six months with full-time study, or within 12 months part-time. WIOA funding may cover the full program and exam fee for eligible participants; paid on-the-job training may also be available.

The academy provides career services and internship placements, with opportunities that have included law firms, nonprofits, and offices on Capitol Hill. Tuition includes selected electronic textbooks and learning resources, as well as access to Lexis certification training and other computer-assisted legal instruction.
