## Description

Armagh Observatory & Planetarium is a centre for astronomical research, education and public engagement in County Armagh, Northern Ireland. Founded in 1790, the Observatory is the oldest continuously operating observatory in the British Isles. Armagh Planetarium, opened in 1968, is the British Isles’ longest-running planetarium. Together, they connect scientific research and heritage with accessible experiences for visitors, schools and the wider community.

The Planetarium offers attractions, exhibitions, dome shows and events, with activities and ticket options for individuals and groups. Visitors can explore its exhibition area, while scheduled and tailored tours provide opportunities to learn about the Observatory’s historic telescopes and Georgian building. The organisation also provides school trips, educational resources, STEM outreach, work experience and volunteering opportunities. Its research programme covers astronomy and related topics, supported by publications, meetings and a PhD programme. Armagh Observatory & Planetarium preserves collections and library resources, shares the history of astronomy and maintains weather observations and data archives.
