## Description

Stop Suicide USA is a suicide prevention organization dedicated to saving lives by helping people recognize and respond to individuals in crisis. Formerly known as Armed Forces Mission, it provides intervention training for people and organizations across the United States, including government agencies, schools and universities, faith communities, civic groups, and first responders.

Its primary program, the Intervene Challenge, is a one-day training event designed to build participants’ skills and confidence to engage with someone experiencing a crisis. The curriculum follows the Listen Learn Lead (L3) approach, a three-tiered intervention model grounded in five core values. Stop Suicide USA says the methods draw on founder Dr. Kenneth “Lou” Koon’s experience conducting more than 2,000 suicide interventions in military and civilian communities. Since the program began, more than 31,000 participants have received training through the organization. Stop Suicide USA also offers workshops for communities and shares information through its website, blog, and training events. Donations support its mission and work with people facing moments of acute distress.
