## Description

The Army Ornithological Society (AOS) is a unique organization dedicated to military birders, fostering a vibrant community of bird enthusiasts who share a passion for ornithology. The AOS engages in diverse activities that promote bird conservation and research both at home and abroad, contributing significantly to the protection of bird species across various environments, from military bases to remote expedition sites.

Members of the AOS participate in bird counts, conservation efforts, and a variety of events, including specialized ringing expeditions, like the Seabird ringing at Cape Wrath and seasonal gatherings at the Portland Bird Observatory. The society also hosts an annual general meeting and encourages submissions for their publication, The Adjutant.

Through blogs and forums, the AOS creates an inclusive platform for sharing experiences and knowledge about birding. Dedicated to expanding the reach of conservational practices, the Army Ornithological Society welcomes those who wish to get involved and make a difference in the birding community.
