## Description

Arte Martínez is a Spanish workshop specializing in religious art, with a history dating back to 1942. Based in Horche, Guadalajara, the company combines traditional craftsmanship with modern technologies to create works for churches and other religious settings. Its long-standing expertise is especially evident in its altarpieces, produced over more than eight decades and presented in a catalogue organized by location.

The workshop works primarily with wood, carefully drying it for at least a year before use to help prevent cracking and deterioration. It selects materials according to each piece’s purpose: ayous and limewood are commonly used for carved images and decoration, cedar for specific projects, and pine for liturgical furnishings. Its range includes altarpieces, statues, angels, crucifixes, shrines, altars, lecterns, choir stalls, pulpits, processional platforms, and other religious objects. Arte Martínez also offers medieval art, liturgical furniture, and outlet products. Finishing techniques include gilding and polychromy, with options such as gold leaf, marbling, and painted decoration. The workshop also builds lightweight processional platforms in varied sizes.
