Arthritis & Osteoporosis Tasmania is a small not-for-profit charity with a mission to improve the lives of Tasmanians affected by, or at risk of developing, arthritis, osteoporosis, and related conditions. Arthritis is a broad term encompassing over 100 medical conditions that impact the musculoskeletal system, particularly the joints where bones meet. This prevalent condition affects 1 in 6 Australians, totaling more than 3.9 million adults and children across the country. Despite its prevalence, arthritis is not well understood. Arthritis & Osteoporosis Tasmania aims to educate individuals about their specific type(s) of arthritis and how to effectively manage the condition. Arthritis symptoms can manifest in various areas of the body, with knees, hips, hands, and the back being common sites. The organization provides information on arthritis statistics, offers support groups and exercise programs, and strives to empower individuals to live well with arthritis. This includes resources for children with arthritis, such as juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA). Arthritis & Osteoporosis Tasmania aims to keep individuals informed with their monthly eNews, ensuring that they are up to date with the latest information on arthritis and osteoporosis.
