## Description

Asahi Linux is a vibrant project and community dedicated to bringing Linux to Apple Silicon Macs. Their mission is not only to enable Linux to run on these machines but to refine it to the point where it can be used seamlessly as a daily operating system. This undertaking involves substantial effort, as Apple Silicon is a completely undocumented platform. The Asahi Linux team is engaged in reverse engineering the Apple GPU architecture and developing an open-source driver for it. With a passionate community of free and open source software developers, Asahi Linux aims to make Linux on Apple Silicon Macs a reality. The brand's name, Asahi, meaning rising sun in Japanese, pays homage to the McIntosh Apple, the apple variety that inspired the Mac's name. Asahi Linux is committed to transparency and collaboration, with development taking place on GitHub and contributions intended to be upstreamed into relevant projects. The forthcoming distribution, a remix of Arch Linux ARM, will offer end-users a convenient and cutting-edge package for easy installation. With Apple's support for booting unsigned/custom kernels on Apple Silicon Macs, Asahi Linux's efforts are entirely legal. Noteworthy contributors to Asahi Linux include Hector Martin, the project lead, Alyssa Rosenzweig, the GPU lead, and a dedicated team of skilled developers, reverse engineers, and Linux graphics hackers. Through their collective expertise, Asahi Linux is making significant strides in bringing Linux to Apple Silicon Macs.
