A Step Ahead Pierce County (ASAPC) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting families of infants and toddlers with special needs. Founded in 2001 by Candy Watkins, ASAPC aims to enhance the development and relationships of children both at home and in their community. Unlike traditional programs that solely focused on specialized classes, ASAPC recognized the benefits of a home visiting program and expanded their services to include speech therapy in homes and the development of Language Preschools.

ASAPC is also known for its collaborative approach, working closely with local community partners to provide comprehensive support for children of all abilities. With an experienced and talented staff, ASAPC is committed to unlocking the full potential of every child they serve. Upholding principles of trust, respect, and compassion, ASAPC strives to create a community that embraces and integrates children of all abilities.
