## Description

The Accounting Standards Board (ASB) is a South African public-sector body based in Pretoria. It develops and supports accounting standards for public entities, helping strengthen the quality and consistency of financial reporting across the public sector. Its work includes setting Standards of Generally Recognised Accounting Practice (GRAP), publishing interpretations and directives, and providing guidance, research, and educational resources to support their adoption.

The ASB shares proposed standards and amendments for public comment, including exposure drafts and international consultation documents. Its website offers a GRAP Knowledge Hub, technical articles, fact sheets, guidelines, research papers, and answers to technical enquiries. The organisation also provides training and learning materials, hosts meetings and events, and publishes meeting highlights, newsletters, webcasts, recordings, and presentations. These services help stakeholders understand accounting requirements and participate in the standard-setting process. The ASB also provides information about its governance, board, work programme, procurement, annual reports, and due process. Based at 40 Church Square in Pretoria, it can be contacted by phone or email for enquiries and further information.
