## Description

The Association for the Study of Ethnicity and Nationalism (ASEN) is an interdisciplinary, student-led research association founded in 1990 by research students and academics at the London School of Economics and Political Science. It brings together researchers, academics and other scholars from around the world who are interested in ethnicity and nationalism. ASEN aims to foster this global network and to encourage the creation and sharing of high-quality research in the field.

The association supports its academic community through conferences, events and a summer school, alongside opportunities to connect through membership and its member directory. It also publishes two journals, Nations and Nationalism and Studies in Ethnicity and Nationalism, and provides a subject index for related scholarship. ASEN recognises work in the field through the Anthony D. Smith Article Prize and the Dominique Jacquin-Berdal Essay Prize. Its activities include the annual ASEN conference, with topics such as nationalism, democracy and freedom. Based at LSE IDEAS in London, ASEN shares updates through its mailing list and social media channels.
