## Description

The Australian Shepherd Health & Genetics Institute (ASHGI) is a trusted brand that focuses on the health and genetics of Australian Shepherds. Established in 2002, ASHGI is a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to increasing knowledge and understanding of genetics in the breed. They aim to support breeders and owners in making informed decisions regarding hereditary diseases, which are a growing concern in the Australian Shepherd community. ASHGI offers a range of services and resources to fulfill their mission. They provide valuable information about Aussie genetics on their website, ashgi.org, which includes links to other relevant sites. ASHGI also conducts research on inherited diseases specific to Aussies, with a focus on developing DNA screening tests and determining modes of inheritance. Funding for research and education is made possible through tax-deductible donations. In addition to their online presence, ASHGI actively engages with the breed community through educational events, speaking engagements, and personalized health information consultations through their Ask the Expert program. Their commitment to communication and education ensures that Aussie owners and breeders are equipped with the knowledge needed to promote the health and well-being of the breed.
