## Description

Asilo Maria Adelaide is a private early childhood school in the historic center of La Spezia, Italy, and a member of the FISM network of recognized preschools. Founded in 1853 by local citizens as the Asilo Infantile di Spezia, it was established to support children from families in need and those whose parents worked at the nearby naval arsenal. The school later took its current name in honor of benefactor Maria Adelaide of Savoy and remains one of the city’s oldest educational institutions.

Based in a historic mid-19th-century building, the school offers preschool education supported by an educational project and a curriculum plan. Its central location provides opportunities to connect learning with the surrounding community, including nearby markets, museums, the theater, public gardens, and the seafront. The school also features courtyard panels depicting views of the Gulf, created in collaboration with the artistic program of I.S.S. Cardarelli. Its website provides information about the school, enrollment materials, organizational policies, and initiatives such as Nati per Leggere, along with updates on activities and family events.
