## Description

Aspidistra Species is an online botanical research project dedicated to documenting the genus Aspidistra, a group of herbaceous plants native to tropical and subtropical forests across Asia. The genus includes about 230 currently known species found in countries such as China, India, Japan, Laos, Malaysia, Thailand, and Vietnam. Because new taxa continue to be described and information is often scattered, the project brings species resources together in one publicly accessible place.

The website provides species listings, photographic galleries, identification keys, and other reference material intended to support the study and recognition of Aspidistra. Images are a particular focus, helping visitors compare plants and identify specimens, including taxa that may not yet be formally described. Botanists and plant enthusiasts are invited to share photographs for identification or possible publication on the site.

The project is associated with Nikolay A. Vislobokov, a researcher in the Department of Higher Plants at Moscow State University, and received support from the Russian Foundation for Basic Research.
