## Description

The Aspiring Biodiversity Trust (ABT) is dedicated to the protection and restoration of New Zealand's indigenous wildlife, focusing on the Makarora/Makarore Wilkin/Ōtānenui Catchments within the breathtaking Mt Aspiring National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Through their initiatives, ABT aims to raise awareness about the significance of biodiversity and foster a profound connection between people and nature.

Their mission encompasses conservation efforts targeting threatened species such as the rock wren (pīwauwau), kea, and blue duck (whio), while promoting healthy ecosystems that support a variety of flora and fauna. The Trust’s projects involve community engagement, educational events, and hands-on conservation work, including monitoring endangered species and restoring habitats like beech/podocarp forests and braided rivers.

Emphasizing holistic approaches to biodiversity, ABT recognizes the interconnectedness of land, water, and community, contributing to global climate change resilience and emphasizing indigenous knowledge. Through their efforts, the Aspiring Biodiversity Trust is a vital force in ensuring the sustainability of New Zealand’s unique natural heritage.
