## Description

The Associação de Solidariedade Social do Alto Paiva (ASSAP) is a social solidarity organization based in Vila Nova de Paiva, Portugal. Founded as a humanitarian association on 3 December 1980, it adopted its current name on 25 March 1982. Its work focuses on improving the quality of life and well-being of people who need social support or ongoing care, serving children, older people and individuals with dependency needs.

ASSAP operates a residential home for older adults, with capacity for 55 residents and services including medical and nursing care, physiotherapy and sociocultural activities. Its Integrated Continuing Care Unit provides health and social support as part of Portugal’s National Network of Integrated Continuing Care. The home-support service assists people in their own residences with meals, household and personal hygiene, laundry and other requested services. For young children, ASSAP offers nursery and kindergarten provision, with nursery capacity for 66 children and rooms for babies and children from independent walking to 36 months.
