## Description

Asterion Foundation supports astronomy research, science education, and public outreach by providing mini-grants to organizations across the United States. Its funding is available to schools, universities, libraries, planetaria, observatories, museums, and science clubs seeking to develop or strengthen astronomy-related projects. Grants typically range from $500 to $5,000 and may serve as lead sponsorship, seed funding, matching support, or finishing funds.

The foundation welcomes proposals across astronomy, with past awards supporting meteorite exhibits, all-night meteor detection cameras, and research into microtektites in fossilized mollusks. It also encourages projects that bring astronomy to wider audiences and help existing outreach organizations promote and enhance their work. Beyond grantmaking, foundation directors have initiated public programs, including free solar eclipse glasses, a library poster contest marking the 50th anniversary of the Apollo Moon landing, and a solar eclipse ceremonial mask activity.

Founded to identify shared goals among astronomy organizations, Asterion Foundation also seeks to bridge journalism and scientific literacy.
