## Description

The Peoria Astronomical Society (PAS) is a nonprofit organization bringing together amateur astronomers in Peoria, Illinois, and nearby communities. It welcomes people interested in exploring the night sky and offers opportunities to learn, observe, and connect with others through club activities and public events. PAS hosts public meetings at the Dome Planetarium and organizes telescope viewing at its observatories, with event details available through its calendar and club information.

From mid-May through mid-October, weather permitting, the Society holds Saturday public viewing events at historic Northmoor Observatory in Donovan Park. Visitors can observe through the dome’s historic 12-foot refractor telescope and take part in outdoor viewing. On suitable evenings, the observatory is open from sunset until approximately 11 p.m.; it remains closed during rainy weather. PAS also shares astronomy information through its quarterly Starlite newsletter, feature articles, constellation pages, and other learning resources. People can explore membership, renewals, donations, and society events through its website, or follow the organization on Facebook for updates.
