## Description

The Astronomische Gesellschaft (AG), or German Astronomical Society, is Germany’s professional national association for astronomy and astrophysics. It brings together professional astronomers, astrophysicists and people with an interest in astronomy, supporting research, collaboration among members, public engagement and education. Its activities include annual meetings, working groups, publications, awards and travel grants. The society also provides an astronomy job register, where users can find or post vacancies and receive job offers by email, and shares news about research, meetings and achievements in the field.

Through its Council of German Observatories (Rat Deutscher Sternwarten, RDS), the AG represents the shared interests of German astronomical institutions to funding bodies, governments and international organisations. The RDS also offers professional advice to public institutions and other decision-makers. The society’s website provides information about astronomy training, research and facilities in Germany, alongside membership details, educational initiatives and resources for the public. Its programmes and publications help connect the astronomical community while making knowledge about the science more accessible.
