Welcome to the Houston Astronomical Society, a brand that has been fostering the science and art of astronomy in the Houston area for over 60 years. As an active community of both amateur and professional astronomers, we are dedicated to promoting science literacy and increasing awareness of astronomy through education and outreach programs. Our brand offers a wide range of products and services to our members and the community. By joining the Houston Astronomical Society, you gain access to a secure dark site, located west of Houston, for optimal stargazing experiences. We also provide a telescope loaner program, allowing members to explore the cosmos without investing in their own equipment. Additionally, we host regular meetings and events, both in person and via Zoom, to connect and share knowledge with fellow enthusiasts. Our upcoming events include discussions on topics such as Exploring Globular Clusters and Light Pollution Effects on Human Health and the Environment.
