## Description

Atelier Svoboda is a Prague-based workshop specializing in the construction, repair, and restoration of stringed and bowed musical instruments. Founded in 1992 by master instrument maker and repairer Václav Svoboda, the atelier is now located on Havanská Street in Prague 7, with his son Roman collaborating since 1998. Its work centers on several models of classical and acoustic guitars, ranging from student instruments to concert-level instruments. The workshop also makes and works with other instruments, including ukuleles, harps, and historical replicas. Its historical instrument-making has included fidulas, trumshaits, and niněras, as well as copies inspired by Gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque designs. Atelier Svoboda developed its own guitar construction based on lattice bracing and carbon composites, following extensive experimentation and an exchange of experience with Australian guitar maker Greg Smallman. Alongside new instrument making, the atelier offers guitar repairs and the restoration of musical instruments, combining contemporary construction with experience in historical forms.
