## Description

The Australian Atherosclerosis Society (AAS) is a prominent non-profit organization established in 1974, dedicated to advancing the fields of science, research, and clinical management related to atherosclerosis. With a strong international reputation, AAS has hosted influential symposia on atherosclerosis, enhancing global collaboration and innovation. AAS members are esteemed professionals in both clinical practice and scientific research.

A significant focus of the society is familial hypercholesterolaemia (FH), which has led to the establishment of the FH Australasia Network and Registry. This initiative aims to prevent early heart attacks in individuals with inherited high cholesterol through education, research, and the promotion of best practices in healthcare.

The AAS is committed to fostering an inclusive environment by upholding principles of honesty, integrity, fairness, and cultural diversity. They actively work towards gender equity and social justice in all aspects of their operations, striving for continuous improvement while adhering to relevant legislation. Through these efforts, AAS aims to enhance knowledge and promote health equity in the community.
