## Description

The Adult Attachment Projective Picture System (AAP) is a psychological assessment for adults and adolescents that explores patterns of attachment through responses to images. Developed by Dr. Carol George and Dr. Malcolm West, the AAP draws on Bowlby-Ainsworth theory and established attachment assessment principles. Its validated coding and classification system identifies the four standard Adult Attachment Interview classification groups and offers information about dimensions such as defensive processes, incomplete mourning, and shame.

The AAP website serves researchers and psychology professionals seeking information, training, and resources for using the assessment. It offers introductory workshops, coding and classification training, and consultation, with upcoming events listed on its training page. The site also describes how the AAP can support clinical practice and therapeutic assessment, and provides information about assessment and feedback for clients through Carol George. Publications include resources on applying the AAP in clinical work, including the assessment and treatment of attachment trauma. Overall, the project brings together assessment tools, professional education, consultation, and clinical and research publications focused on adult attachment.
