## Description

The American University of Beirut (AUB) is a teaching-centered research university founded in 1866 and based on the American liberal arts model. Located in Beirut, it serves more than 8,000 students and has over 800 faculty members. AUB promotes freedom of thought and expression, aiming to educate graduates who demonstrate critical and creative thinking, lifelong learning, personal integrity, civic responsibility, and leadership.

Accredited in the United States by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education, the university comprises six faculties: Arts and Sciences, Medicine, Engineering and Architecture, Agricultural and Food Sciences, Health Sciences, and Business. It offers more than 130 programs leading to bachelor’s, master’s, MD, and PhD degrees, with English as the main language of instruction. AUB provides admissions guidance, financial aid, scholarships, libraries, and online learning resources. Its research programs span many disciplines and support local and global communities. Through community engagement, executive education, public health initiatives, and other outreach activities, AUB also works to address regional and societal challenges.
