Its vision is to create a campus where children with serious, life-limiting illnesses can experience comfort, connection, play, and the ordinary joys of childhood, while their families receive support alongside them. The organization emphasizes care for the whole family, including parents and siblings, and aims to bring clinical expertise together with hospitality and a home-like environment. Plans for the August Crossing Campus include opportunities for respite, end-of-life care, family gatherings, grief support, and education to strengthen care beyond the local community. The project is being shaped with input from families, clinical professionals, and supporters. Founded by Amanda Payne, a former hospital chaplain, August Crossing grew from her experience seeing families need support beyond medical interventions alone.
