## Description

Compagnie Auguste-Bienvenue is a dance and performing arts company founded in 2000 by dancers and choreographers Auguste Ouédraogo and Bienvenue Bazié. The company describes itself as an artistic laboratory, bringing choreographic research together with interdisciplinary practice, professional training and public engagement with dance. Its Engagement Féminin programme, established in 2008, is a professional development course held each summer in Ouagadougou. It focuses on dance, project management, social connection and cultural development, and aims to foster the emergence of women choreographic artists across the African continent. The programme also connects training with creative residencies, discussions and performances by women choreographers. Through its productions, education and cultural activities, Compagnie Auguste-Bienvenue works to develop dance practice and widen opportunities for artists and audiences.
