## Description

Auslands-BAföG is an information and guidance service for students and trainees planning to study or complete a required internship abroad. Its website explains eligibility, funding amounts, application procedures, deadlines and repayment rules, helping visitors understand how German student aid can support an international stay. It covers full degree programmes, exchange semesters and compulsory internships in Europe and elsewhere, and explains that eligibility may still be possible for applicants who do not qualify for BAföG within Germany.

The service offers a free calculator that estimates potential support based on personal circumstances, parental income and destination. Visitors can also request a tailored PDF information pack with the responsible BAföG office, relevant forms, document checklists and answers to more than 50 common questions. The site provides destination-specific guidance, frequently asked questions and articles on planning and financing study abroad. It explains that applications should generally be submitted around six months before departure, since funding is not paid retroactively.
