Österreichischer Auslandsdienst is a recognized organization by the Austrian Ministry of Social Affairs, Health, Care, and Consumer Protection, offering opportunities for individuals to engage in voluntary or civil service abroad. Established in 1998 by Andreas Maislinger, Michael Prochazka, and Andreas Hörtnagl, the organization prepares candidates for their international service, sends them to their designated placement, and supports them throughout their time abroad. The preparation process includes online conferences, participation in the association, literature clubs, study trips, workshops, and visits.

During their service, participants maintain regular communication with the organization and its staff. The structure of Österreichischer Auslandsdienst consists of the board, advisory board and international council, management team, and five divisions: Care, Education, Marketing, International, and Administration. The organization provides memorial service, social service, and peace service, and has placement opportunities worldwide in 9 geographical areas.

The leadership team oversees strategic planning and implementation, alongside the two current spokespersons, the financial officer, the chairman, and the CEO. Additionally, the organization is divided into five divisions, each led by a division leader, who also serves as a link between the division and the leadership team.
