## Description

The Paleontological Society of Austin (PSoA) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, community-based scientific organization devoted to the study of fossils. Its work focuses especially on Texas fossils, fossil collecting in Texas, and involvement with Central Texas organizations. The society welcomes people interested in fossils, including families and children, and aims to advance paleontological science, educate the public, and support the collection and identification of fossil specimens.

PSoA brings members and visitors together through monthly meetings, field trips, and newsletters. It also hosts an annual Fossil Fest featuring exhibits, dealers, door prizes, and educational programs for children. Other activities include occasional technical publications, educational presentations, and exchanges of specimens and information with amateur and professional paleontologists worldwide. The society shares resources to help visitors explore Texas fossil localities, museums, organizations, and events, along with online educational materials for families and children. It also offers posters about prehistoric reptiles and sharks for educational use. Public meetings are normally held on the third Tuesday of each month in Austin.
